MRI or Magnet Resonance Imaging uses a magnetic field and radio frequency pulses to produce images inside the human body. This is a non-invasive technique for diagnosing, detecting, and treating various diseases. Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) takes images of the arteries of the human body. Magnetic Resonance Venography (MRV) takes images of the human body's veins.
Our friendly, welcoming, and experienced staff are here to make your experience comfortable and memorable. At SKB MRI, we understand your hesitation and concerns when undergoing an MRI, whether it's your first visit or you have had one before. As a result, our knowledgeable staff is ready to answer any questions and make the experience as comfortable as possible.
All implanted devices will be questioned to determine their MRI compatibility. Patients are urged to walk with supporting documentation about the implant. Patients with pacemakers will not be permitted to have MRIs done.
Generally, it is safe to obtain a non-contrast MRI on a pregnant patient. The decision to proceed should be made via consultation with the referring physician and the Radiologist regarding the risks vs. benefits of the procedure.
Many children cannot remain still for an MRI scan. Children ages 0 to 15 years old who require sedation should be accompanied by their pediatricians.

Technologists use contrast agents to enhance the visibility of the human anatomy. This is administered intravenously or orally. This procedure is done under the supervision of our consultant physician.
All patients undergoing an MRI scan with contrast should have their serum creatinine checked, and levels should be drawn within 30 days of the scan.
Patients with severe renal failure who require dialysis may risk a rare but serious illness called Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis. Although a causal link has not been established, current guidelines in the United States recommend that dialysis patients should only receive gadolinium agents when essential and that dialysis should be performed as soon as possible after the scan to remove the agent from the body.
Oral medications may be necessary for patients who get anxiety in enclosed spaces to provide minimal sedation for comfort. These medications may include prescription and non-prescription drugs.
SKBMRI does not administer these drugs. You will be referred to an anesthesiologist should you require it.
Patients referred by the hospital should be accompanied by a nurse or medical practitioner carrying sedatives that can be administered if needed.
