At SKB MRI, we deliver high-quality imaging using state-of-the-art MRI technology. Over the years, we have built a trusted reputation for reliability, efficiency, affordability, convenience, and providing a pleasant, safe, and patient-centered experience.
Our mission remains the same: to offer world-class diagnostic imaging that supports accurate diagnosis and enhances the quality of healthcare across the Federation.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) uses advanced magnetic fields and radio-frequency pulses to produce detailed images of the inside of the human body. It is a completely non-invasive technique that supports the diagnosis, detection, and monitoring of a wide range of medical conditions.
In addition to standard MRI scans, we also provide:

Our friendly, welcoming, and highly experienced team is committed to making your visit as comfortable and reassuring as possible. At SKB MRI, we understand that undergoing an MRI can bring hesitation or concern—whether it’s your first scan or a return appointment.
That’s why our knowledgeable staff is always available to answer your questions, guide you through the process, and ensure you feel informed, supported, and at ease every step of the way.
We are dedicated to providing not just exceptional imaging, but an experience that gives you confidence and peace of mind.

At SKB MRI, we aim to make your visit smooth and stress-free. Here’s what you need to know before your appointment:

For your safety, all implanted medical devices must be reviewed to determine MRI compatibility. We encourage patients to bring any supporting documentation related to their implant, including device cards or physician notes.
Please note that patients with pacemakers are not permitted to undergo MRI scans. This restriction ensures the safety of the patient and the integrity of the imaging process.
Our team at SKB MRI will carefully assess all relevant information and guide you through the necessary steps before your scan.

At SKB MRI, we want you to feel prepared and confident before your scan. Here are a few key things to keep in mind:

At SKB MRI, your safety and comfort are our priority.
Pregnancy
Non-contrast MRI scans are generally considered safe during pregnancy. However, the decision to proceed will be made in consultation with your referring physician and our Radiologist, who will carefully evaluate the risks and benefits to ensure the best course of action for both mother and baby.
Children
MRI scans require complete stillness to ensure clear, accurate images. Many young children may find this difficult. For children ages 0 to 15 who require sedation, a pediatrician must accompany the child to provide proper monitoring and support throughout the process.
To ensure a smooth and well-prepared imaging experience at SKB MRI, the following forms are required:
Patient Referral Form: This form must be completed by your referring physician. It provides the clinical information needed for us to determine the appropriate MRI, MRA, or MRV study. This form is required before an appointment can be scheduled.
MRI Screening Form: Also completed by the referring physician, this form documents any medical conditions, implanted devices, or safety considerations that must be reviewed prior to your scan. This form is required before booking your appointment.
Patient Survey Form: This is a brief feedback form for patients to complete after their visit. Your responses help us continuously improve the quality of care and overall patient experience.

Cyrene Simmonds has dual roles at SKBMRI. She is the MRI Technician who scans patients and consults with our Radiologists and other doctors in the absence of the MRI Director, and she is the Training Coordinator who ensures that all team members are trained.
Cyrene holds a BSc degree in Kinesiology and Health Science from York University and a Master’s degree in Education (Innovation in Learning and Teaching) from the University of South Wales. Additionally, she has completed the MRI in Practice course in the US and additional MRI coursework with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology.
Cyrene has been performing MRI scans since 2016 and believes that all our team members should be knowledgeable and trained on all current best practices of MRI as every resident of St. Kitts & Nevis (and all of our other patients) deserve nothing less than the best healthcare.
Sometimes, to get the clearest and most detailed images, our technologists use a contrast agent—a special dye that helps highlight certain tissues inside the body. It is given either intravenously (through a small injection) or orally, depending on the type of scan. This is always done under the supervision of our consultant physician to ensure your safety.
Before having an MRI that uses contrast, all patients must have a serum creatinine test within 30 days of the appointment. This simple blood test checks how well your kidneys are working.
Patients with severe kidney failure who are on dialysis may be at risk for a very rare condition called Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis (NSF). Although this link has not been fully proven, medical guidelines in the United States recommend that:
Your safety is our top priority at SKB MRI. Our team will guide you through every step and ensure all precautions are taken before your scan.
Some patients feel anxious or uncomfortable in enclosed spaces. In these cases, mild oral medications may help you relax during the MRI. These can be either prescription or non-prescription medications, depending on what your physician recommends.
Please note that SKB MRI does not administer sedation or anxiety medications on-site. If you require sedation, we will guide you to an anesthesiologist who can safely provide what you need.
For patients referred from the hospital, a nurse or medical practitioner must accompany you if sedation may be required. They should bring any necessary medications and be prepared to administer them if needed.
Your comfort and safety are important to us, and our team will support you every step of the way to ensure a calm and reassuring experience.
