SKB MRI is the leading diagnostic center for MRI services in the Federation. Established in 2015, we were the first to introduce MRI imaging to St. Kitts and Nevis and continue to lead with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) uses advanced magnetic fields and radio-frequency pulses to produce detailed images of the inside of the human body. It is a completely non-invasive technique that supports the diagnosis, detection, and monitoring of a wide range of medical conditions.
In addition to standard MRI scans, we also provide:

At SKB MRI, we aim to make your visit smooth and stress-free. Here’s what you need to know before your appointment:
- MRI is a painless, non-invasive procedure designed to safely capture detailed images of the body.
- A prescription or referral from your physician is required in order to schedule an MRI, MRA, or MRV scan.
- We operate a no-cash policy. All payments must be made in advance via deposit before your appointment.

Implanted devices
For your safety, all implanted medical devices must be reviewed to determine MRI compatibility. We encourage patients to bring any supporting documentation related to their implant, including device cards or physician notes.
Please note that patients with pacemakers are not permitted to undergo MRI scans. This restriction ensures the safety of the patient and the integrity of the imaging process.
Our team at SKB MRI will carefully assess all relevant information and guide you through the necessary steps before your scan.

At SKB MRI, we want you to feel prepared and confident before your scan. Here are a few key things to keep in mind:
- Scan Duration: Each MRI scan may take up to 1 hour, depending on the body part being examined.
- Check-In: Please allow approximately 15 minutes for check-in and initial processing.
- Changing Room: You will be required to change into appropriate clothing for the procedure. A private changing room is provided for your comfort.
- MRI Sounds: You will hear tapping or humming sounds while the MRI is in progress—this is completely normal and part of the imaging process.
- Results: After your scan, a detailed diagnostic report will be sent directly to your referring physician. In some cases, your physician may also be granted online access to your images for timely review.

At SKB MRI, your safety and comfort are our priority.
Pregnancy
Non-contrast MRI scans are generally considered safe during pregnancy. However, the decision to proceed will be made in consultation with your referring physician and our Radiologist, who will carefully evaluate the risks and benefits to ensure the best course of action for both mother and baby.
Children
MRI scans require complete stillness to ensure clear, accurate images. Many young children may find this difficult. For children ages 0 to 15 who require sedation, a pediatrician must accompany the child to provide proper monitoring and support throughout the process.

Viviana Chaseau is the MRI Director at SKBMRI. She performs and oversees the scanning and operations of the MRI department while ensuring that patients have a safe and comfortable experience.
Her accomplishments include Associate degrees in Electronic Engineering and Telecommunication Technology, Biology, and Physics from Dominica State C
Viviana Chaseau is the MRI Director at SKBMRI. She performs and oversees the scanning and operations of the MRI department while ensuring that patients have a safe and comfortable experience.
Her accomplishments include Associate degrees in Electronic Engineering and Telecommunication Technology, Biology, and Physics from Dominica State College.
Ms. Chaseau also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Trinidad and Tobago and other MRI-related certificates from Johns Hopkins University, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, and the University of Michigan.
Viviana’s passion for patient care is reflected in her compassionate interactions with patients before and after their exams.

Cyrene Simmonds has dual roles at SKBMRI. She is the MRI Technician who scans patients and consults with our Radiologists and other doctors in the absence of the MRI Director, and she is the Training Coordinator who ensures that all team members are trained.
Cyrene holds a BSc degree in Kinesiology and Health Science from York Universit
Cyrene Simmonds has dual roles at SKBMRI. She is the MRI Technician who scans patients and consults with our Radiologists and other doctors in the absence of the MRI Director, and she is the Training Coordinator who ensures that all team members are trained.
Cyrene holds a BSc degree in Kinesiology and Health Science from York University and a Master’s degree in Education (Innovation in Learning and Teaching) from the University of South Wales. Additionally, she has completed the MRI in Practice course in the US and additional MRI coursework with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology.
Cyrene has been performing MRI scans since 2016 and believes that all our team members should be knowledgeable and trained on all current best practices of MRI as every resident of St. Kitts & Nevis (and all of our other patients) deserve nothing less than the best healthcare.
